Some collect spoons, others make jewellery from them, like Miss Tory Bauer. The Spooning Society takes spoons from the cupboards of grandmothers and collectors across the globe and turns them into beautiful bracelets, earrings and necklaces.

So we all know that Melbourne is pretty chilly at the moment, why not duck into the Australian Centre for Moving Image and take a gander at the Tim Burton exhibition? It features lots of great objects, films, puppets, costumes and storyboards to get you into the wonderfully bizarre world of this great artist. The exhibition follows the life works of Burton from his early pieces up until the most recent, Alice in Wonderland and runs until October.

It is a proven fact that wintertime equals cooking and warming up beside the stove top, so put down the tin of minestrone soup and have a look at eatmakeread. This blog is jam packed full of delightfully yummy recipes, so set yourself a challenge and perhaps attempt to cook a homemade meal from scratch for your housemates/mum/nanna/sister/lover and keep warm tonight. We think this one looks especially delicious.

Postcarden

Oh think of the joy that would come from receiving one of these in the mail! For those of us who aren't blessed with a green thumb and whose 'indoor' plants really dislike being kept indoors (we know this because they decide to die on us), the PostCarden seems like the perfect solution. Nothing like a nice bit of greenery under your roof and all the more exciting when it is packaged up so sweetly and has step by step instructions. So simple you won't even need the skills of Don Burke to bring it to life.

We’re pleased as punch to be a supporter of the The Little Help Project, organised by the rad people at AS Colour.  The competition is in its second year, with $10,000 worth of prizes up for grabs to help kick start a new t-shirt label. Dust off your sketchbook or laptop and get busy, your dreams might just get to be realised. Download the design template here. Entries are now open and close on October 1. Finalists are chosen by judges, Lara Burke, Art Director of frankie magazine and Steven Richardson from Parinto, they will be announced on November 1 and will have two of their designs printed onto tees and up for grabs on the Little Help Project website. The designer who sells the most over two months will win. If you have any questions, shoot Dan an email and he will be happy to help. Get designing!
