the wilderness downtown

Not really sure we can find words adequate enough to describe the feeling you will get from watching this clip. Canadian favourites Arcade Fire have created an interactive movie using the ditty ‘We Used To Wait’ off their newly released album, The Suburbs. The project is called The Wilderness Downtown, and was created by Chris Milk using some fancy-pants programs that we don’t quite understand, such as HTML5. We don’t want to give too much away, but it might bring back some nice memories and may or may not include interactive note-writing. Get onto it over here. You'd be silly not to.

So we all know that around this time every year, Lover release their new season lookbook. Untitled has us smitten. We gaze at it with longing, glassy eyes and dream of long days roaming the hot streets and open spaces of summer. Swoon. If you're in Sydney this Thursday and can make it along to the Incu store at The Galeries, you will be treated with some charming window displays curated by the Lovers themselves, who will be in-store for a chat. Each Lover purchase made on the night will also score a limited edition fanzine.

If you’re a knitter or just interested in knitting and live around Kings Cross, keep a Saturday free ‘cause you’re invited to participate in a major public art project to be presented this October, as part of Art & About. Sydney based artist collective, Reef Knot, will work with the community and local artists to create ‘I Heart Kings Cross’, a collaborative knitting installation along the main strip of King Cross. Knitting circles will be held every Saturday, until 26th September, 10am-4pm in Fitzroy Gardens. All materials will be supplied. Have a peek online to find out where wool packs can be collected from.

Sometimes I can’t believe the radness you can get on eBay. I was sure I was going
to get into some kind of horrid bidding war on this one – a vintage Hasbro Sew Easy
play sewing machine with, according to the listing, ‘real clickety clack’ sounds.
But happily not, and now it’s safely in the arms of my little niece, Teak. We gave
it to her and within two minutes she was already feeding her blankie through,
and then bits of paper. Thank you, eBay!

We’ve made another recipe book! It’s called Sweet Treats and it’s packed with all sorts of deliciousness including honeycomb, toffee apples, candy hearts and mint patty delights (to name a few). If you liked Afternoon Tea, you’re going to love Sweet Treats. It’ll take you back to a time when generous lashings of real sugar and butter were proudly packed into every yummy indulgence. And if you order your copy before April 22, we’ll send a cute Mother’s Day Card and a nicely wrapped Sweet Treats to your lovely mum in time for Mother’s Day n May 9. Order here!
