Wow, what fun was had! We were lucky enough to spend some time at Splendour in the Grass up in Woodford this past weekend, and yes it was just as splendid as we thought it would be, if not more! No one would've guessed it was the middle of winter - the sun was out, and a balmy breeze was a-blowin'. There were bare legs, sunhats and freckles starting to show. We had an amazing time sitting up on that lovely hill, listening to sweet tunes and generally letting our hair down. All the performances that we saw were terrific, but personal faves included The Strokes, The Pixies, Tame Impala, Yeasayer and good old Florence. Already saving our pennies for next year.
We are smitten by these lovely illustrations by Caroline Morin, a talented little French creative who is currently calling Brisbane home. Have a look at her blog and flickr site for more.
The ladies at FriedaMaria make us want to paint our walls white, pop on a pair of peach coloured socks, make macaroons and float around the house sipping Pimms and eating cucumber sandwiches. We loved the girly-ness of their website and the fact they have their fingers in a few creative pies, specialising in styling, photography, object design and even publishing their own book! Their site is worth a gander, just be sure to choose the 'English' option before you do go exploring as you could end up in the tijdschriften....
We just wanted to let you know about the lovely Emilie Simon and her new album, The Big Machine. Currently residing in NYC, the French songstress is sure to have you humming along and tapping your toes. We have a few copies of The Big Machine to give away, all you have to do is register for this music newsletter to be in the running. Emilie is touring nationally from September 29 to October 4 and is also featuring on So Fenchy So Chic, an new SBS music series on Saturday nights from July 31.
It is a proven fact that wintertime equals cooking and warming up beside the stove top, so put down the tin of minestrone soup and have a look at eatmakeread. This blog is jam packed full of delightfully yummy recipes, so set yourself a challenge and perhaps attempt to cook a homemade meal from scratch for your housemates/mum/nanna/sister/lover and keep warm tonight. We think this one looks especially delicious.
