So we all know that Melbourne is pretty chilly at the moment, why not duck into the Australian Centre for Moving Image and take a gander at the Tim Burton exhibition? It features lots of great objects, films, puppets, costumes and storyboards to get you into the wonderfully bizarre world of this great artist. The exhibition follows the life works of Burton from his early pieces up until the most recent, Alice in Wonderland and runs until October.

If you fancy yourself to be a bit of a creative little being, then why not enter the Kit Design Award supported by frankie magaine? Now in its third year running, The competition calls for a unique interpretation on the theme 'taking shape' and is open to anyone and everyone. Not only will the winner see their designs gracing the shelves of Kit stores all over the country, they will also have the chance to participate in a week's work experience here with us at frankie! This year's judging panel will include some amazing Aussie creatives such as:  Kit founder, Jo Horgan, beloved artist, Beci Orpin, Ty Bukewitsch, Therese Rawsthorne and frankie's very own creative director, Lara Burke! If you’re a knitter or just interested in knitting and live around Kings Cross, keep a Saturday free ‘cause you’re invited to participate in a major public art project to be presented this October, as part of Art & About. Sydney based artist collective, Reef Knot, will work with the community and local artists to create ‘I Heart Kings Cross’, a collaborative knitting installation along the main strip of King Cross. Knitting circles will be held every Saturday, until 26th September, 10am-4pm in Fitzroy Gardens. All materials will be supplied. Don’t forget about Young Blood Designers Markets which is happening on August 14th and 15th at the Powerhouse Museum. The market is all about nurturing new talent and will feature all sorts of treasures including fashion, furniture, jewellery, graphics, landscape and lighting design.
